One of the older cousins (Kathy?) took us to some part of Chicago that was sort of "hippie-ish," the Chicago version of Greenwich Village at the time, or so she said. There were all kinds of cool little shops and she bought those plates and matching glasses (not glass but metal) for us. I remember drinking chocolate milk out of my cup for YEARS because it made the milk so cold and that was the only way I could drink it! (Mine were blue!)
Yeah, now I remember the glasses but have no idea what happened to them. Was that during the road trip when we picked up Margie and went on to see Wells and on to Niagara Falls and finally to N.J.?
They called it Old Town (probably) or possibly All Town- I remember going very well. Mine were green- of course! And yes, that was the trip you speak of, Mom!
Thanks to both of you for your
recall. With this lead scare, do you think those plates have that in them? If not, I'll let the kids continue to use them.
I have no idea if they have lead in them, but I wouldn't think so- aren't they tin? I guess tin could have lead in it...???
