Aspiration vs. Inspiration

Can you aspire before being inspired? Can you have one without the other? That is Wednesday's question. Give me your happy thoughts!

Yes, you can aspire prior to being inspired. It is to dream and to envision--and perhaps we do that without any particular inspiration--we just want it. They are interconnected though, in that when we are inspired, at times we further that to desire an action or outcome as a result of the inspiration and thus aspire to more. You can have one with out the other, as we can feel inspired and not want to do anything with the feeling, or want any change. Or, at least that is my pragmatic view of dreams, visions, desires, and deep-emotional experiences that create emotional responses. LOL

I agree with Suzassippi. I may aspire to be a great teacher, and there may be other great teachers who inspire me, but there could, instead, be horrible teachers who are not inspiring at all- yet I still aspire...:) I can also retire and join choir or expire and be put on a funeral pyre, but all of that is somewhat a quagmire...and another story for another day...

Thank you for participating in Wednesday's question of the day! I love your comments. I agree with both of you. I think that sometimes we are inspired by our thinking at a certain moment in our lives.

And, I caught your poetic points, Kath!

Oh, Kathi, you made me laugh out loud at that one! It was hilarious...as well as poetic.

We play a game called "rhyme time," and my schoolkids get into it. Things like, "What do you call a fight among cows?" Answer: A cattle battle. The answers have to rhyme...When we have a teacher retreat, we play the adult version, and it gets hilarious. A cat with diarrhea? A shitty kitty...you get the picture.
